About Us

Druthers Agency was founded in 1974 to address the specialized staffing needs of the Eldercare industry. With more than three decades of experience, our firm is the acknowledged leader in executive search services for Skilled Nursing Facilities, Retirement Homes, Transitional Care & Subacute Units, Assisted Living Facilities and Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

Our firm works directly with Senior Housing organizations to identify executive hiring needs and develop recruitment strategies to address those needs. We present the client with an elite group of individuals whose skills and philosophies will match those required for the position, perform all screening and negotiation, and can even offer interim coverage while the search is being conducted.

As demonstrated by our 36 years of service to the Eldercare community, Druthers Agency is focused on the development of long-term relationships with both clients and candidates. We maintain an active database of highly qualified executives who are looking to improve their current situation, and an active list of upper echelon clients who are looking to improve their current operations.

Jeffrey Harris Bilson, President - Druthers Agency, Inc.

Jeffrey joined Druthers Agency in 1981 as an Executive Search Consultant, seeing a unique opportunity to combine his interests and experiences in senior services, counseling and career preparation. He quickly established a reputation in long-term care recruitment, and became the highest producer in the firm. Jeffrey became Director of Operations for Druthers Agency in 1985, and focused all recruitment efforts in the Senior Services sector. He purchased the organization from its founder in 1987, and has successfully continued operations in this specialized niche since that time.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jeffrey first became involved in long-term care services through his family ownership of several nursing facilities in California, Nevada and Hawaii. In 1979, he entered an internship program at the University of California at Davis that provided him training as a Counselor, and spent two-and-a-half years as Academic Counselor for graduate and undergraduate student at the university. After obtaining dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Communications, Jeffrey was asked to join Druthers Agency.

In addition to his own recruitment efforts, Jeffrey has successfully trained other search consultants both within Druthers Agency and as an Instructor at the Odyssey School for Executive Search. He has presented workshops on effective hiring practices to numerous organizations including CAHSA, CALFA and ACHCA as well as to individual eldercare companies.
